Make changes and go after the life you want
I help people change the way they think about fitness….
Fitness is not all about getting into a sweaty mess to feel like you have achieved anything. I like to think there are better ways to achieve your goals without gasping for air and feeling like you've just been hit by a bus. I’m not saying these workouts shouldn’t be included every so often, just not all the time.
All my sessions are tailored to what your goals and needs are. That’s why I do not produce cookie cutter programmes; your goals are not the same as the next person and if by chance you happen to have the same goals as another, your journey to achieve these will not be.
I WANT TO LEARN MOREHi! I'm Leighton!
I am a former member of the Armed forces where I served 6 years in the Army and over 18 years in the Royal Air Force. Throughout that time I have always been involved in sport and physical activities. Initially I played semi-professional rugby before moving through various sports such as triathlon, rock climbing, martial arts, CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting. I was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales and currently reside in West Oxfordshire, England, with my wife and daughter.
I started playing rugby in my teens and this carried over into the Army. From there I dabbled in endurance sports and adventurous activities with rock climbing. In pursuit of increasing my physical capabilities for climbing I fell across Tae Kwon Do which I fell in love with. I hold a second degree black belt and still practice today. With deployments overseas and training with other nations I was introduced to CrossFit and with that Olympic weightlifting. With a thirst to learn and teach others I have obtained my L1 CF certification, British Weightlifting L3 in coaching WL and a L4 strength and condition certification, as well as certifying as a GMB trainer and an Active Life Professional.
Having tried many sporting endeavours I have seen and sustained many injuries. Other than traumatic injuries which are unavoidable, I have learnt that many injuries can be prevented through learning good movement patterns and loading the body appropriately for the individual’s capabilities. Learning all of this and understanding how important maintaining a healthy lifestyle as we age is, my goals are to not only help people get stronger and healthier, but to also educate people on how to use the gym for life outside of the gym; to live an active life and have that physical freedom as we start to age.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and family. Aside from working on my own fitness journey, I like to read books as well as other little hobbies to fill my time. I drink far too much coffee, I enjoy lifting heavy weights and spending time inverted on my handstand journey. I thoroughly enjoy feeling like I am getting the most out of life and living it to its fullest potential.
As a Fitness and movement Coach, and through my education at Active Life, I am equipped to work with your unique strengths and limitations to help you break free of your comfort zone so you can reach your full potential. With my guidance, you will build the education, strength, and confidence you need to embrace your active lifestyle and improve the quality of your life without having to give up the things you enjoy most.
